TAPCO is the new Chairman CUO

Wholesale specialty insurance distributor CRC Group announced the appointment of Keith Allred as president of TAPCO Underwriters and Virginia Clancy as chief underwriting officer, effective January 1. Allred succeeded longtime TAPCO president Bill Pinson when he died in June.

Allred has more than 30 years of experience in the excess and surplus insurance industry, including more than two decades as vice president of Topco Underwriters. He will continue to work out of the company’s Burlington, NC, location. Allred will report to West McAdams, president of CRC Group’s bindings division.

Clancy was a 30-year employee of TAPCO. He opened the firm’s Clearwater, Fla., office in 1994 and headed the Florida region. Clancy was the company’s first assistant vice president and was promoted to vice president in 2000. He will continue to lead the Florida region in addition to his new duties as CUO. She will report to Allred.

“Keith is one of the pillars of Topco’s success and is the right person to take Topco to the next level,” said McAdams. “Virginia is recognized and well respected as one of the best underwriters in the E&S industry. Keith, Virginia and the TAPCO leadership team will continue to deliver unparalleled service for agents and profitable growth for carriers.

I look forward to working hard to honor his legacy by helping our outstanding TAPCO team continue to deliver world-class service in today’s competitive market.

“I am excited to invest in Tabco’s future as Chief Underwriting Officer,” said Clancy. “I look forward to continuing to build TAPCO’s strong reputation with carriers, agents and partners.”
