Stress and other injuries among restaurant workers have increased since the arrival of the COVID-19 pandemic, according to a new report. Yes Trust Financial services.
2022 AmTrust Restaurant Risk Report General injuries were checked and restaurant staff were given time off. The report examined nearly 170,000 claims and found that while overall injuries fell, specific injuries — crushing, contusion, swelling, strains and stress — rose significantly compared to pre-pandemic numbers.
Key findings include:

- Injuries were highest in July and lowest in January, February, September and November

- Strain injuries increased 23% from pre-pandemic levels in 2019
Report Also includes loss-control tips on how to minimize the most common injuries.
Surveying the industry over a 10-year period, the report found:

- Motor vehicles cost an average of nearly $20,000 per claim

- Although cuts are 30% higher than falls, falls result in 410% higher claim costs.
