As head of project risk consulting, Canning will focus on providing a range of insurance and analytics tools to support risk management strategies for construction and infrastructure projects in North America. He will collaborate with Chris Smith, NFP senior vice president and head of project risk, and they will drive connectivity across the value chain of NFP construction projects, a release said.

“We are delighted to have Andrew join the specialty business within NFP,” said Chris Smith. “He brings more than 30 years of experience and a well-earned reputation as a leader who drives innovation and delivers complete and well-structured solutions to clients.”

Canning joins from NFP Marsh, where he previously served as managing director of the company’s construction group. He also served as Senior Vice President once Ann Risk Services provides its expertise to national and international construction projects. Canning has also held leadership roles at Amoco, Near North Insurance Brokerage and Rapid Specialty.

“With the complexity facing stakeholders in the construction and infrastructure sector – whether it’s inflation, supply chain, ESG or technological change – NFP is developing innovative tools and solutions to address these issues,” said David Bogatt, NFP Managing Director of Construction and Infrastructure. “We are investing in people and building an elite project risk advisory and brokerage team to help clients navigate the substantial pipeline of North American construction projects flowing in the coming years.”

Last month, NFP announced a partnership with Betline Insurance. Through the partnership, NFP will be able to offer Canada pet health insurance to its customers from Petline, a subsidiary of Definity Insurance.
