Lloyds has announced that it has welcomed Richard Dudley as a new member of the Council of Lloyds.
Dudley succeeds Dominic Christin, who will step down as a council member on January 31, 2023 after nine years of service. Dudley’s election is effective February 1, 2023.
Who is Richard Dudley?
Dudley is Global Head of Climate Strategy Ann. He has worked in the Lloyd’s market for almost 30 years and is currently on the Lloyd’s Technology & Transformation Advisory Board. Dudley is also a member of the Executive Action Committee on the Sustainable Markets Initiative’s Insurance Task Force. He was previously CEO of Aon’s Global Broking Center and CEO of Aon Reinsurance’s UK and Ireland specialist divisions.
Bruce Carnegie-Brown, chairman of Lloyd’s, said he was “delighted” to welcome Dudley as a new council member.
“Richard’s election is testament to his extraordinary contribution to advancing the goals of the insurance industry,” the chairman noted. “Richard will play a key role in delivering on our mission as we continue to build a sustainable and inclusive Lloyds.”
“I’m very grateful for all of Tom’s hard work over the past nine years,” he added. “He left the council having made solid progress, particularly in Lloyd’s Markets’ culture change and our climate leadership through the Sustainable Markets Initiative Insurance Taskforce.”
“It is an incredible honor to join Lloyd’s Council,” said Dudley. “For our market, the opportunities to further brand our collective social value are as clear and important now as they’ve ever been.”
“As a council member I am committed to helping Lloyd’s build on its mission to become an underwriter of the transition to a net zero economy and deliver a successful conclusion to market modernisation,” said Dudley.
