Original by Peter Jackson Lord of the Rings The movies are appreciated till date for many reasons, among them are the lead actors. The series helped introduce longtime actors like the late Christopher Lee to audiences. Ian McKellen, and greatly raised the profile of relative unknowns like Orlando Bloom or Elijah Wood. Now imagine that the cast is mostly the same, instead Sean Austin It’s current late-night talk show host James Gordon in the role of Frodo Baggins’ longtime BFF Samwise Gamgee.

At least according to Gordon, that’s the kind of future we could have. In the latest episode “Happiness Sadness Confusion” podcast, the UK actor addressed long-running rumors that New Line Cinema’s 2000s fantasy epic was one of the first acting roles he pursued. “Every person in London auditioned Lord of the Rings,” he said. “I auditioned for Samwise. I was doing it! The accent and everything! ‘Mr. Frodo!'” He said he and two of his friends got calls a couple of times, but haven’t heard back since.

Gordon’s true breakout role would be Baker in Disney’s 2014 adaptation, since he didn’t quite like the role of Sam. Into the woods. He was very open about saying his Sam audition was “not good,” but otherwise had no real bad blood about the passing. “Enjoyed it till the end [Return of the King]”He joked, and then I said, ‘Oh, well, I just saw this — I should have gone to see it Love indeed.”

Its…Different To be honest, it’s hard to imagine Gordon being in that role, but you wonder what would have come of it if he’d stepped into that role. Would he still have hurt the late-night talk show host who occasionally shows up at a random movie? Will Astin continue to voice or act as Shazam in the animated DC movies? Stranger things? Maybe things worked out better the way they did?
