Sub Teresa Black has been named executive vice president and chief operating officer for North America.
As Chief Operating Officer of Assurance in North America, Black will have responsibility for the underwriting, strategy and profitable growth of its Commercial and Construction Assurance business in North America. A release noted that he will be based in New York and will continue to report to Stephen Haney, Sapp Group vice president and head of the North American warranty division.
“Teresa has been an exceptional leader for our warranty team and a partner to our clients seeking reliable warranty expertise for a wide range of projects,” said John Lupica, vice president of Sub Group and president of Sub North America. “In this new role, he will have a broad role impact in setting the course for the ongoing growth of our North America warranty business.”
“Having worked with Teresa for nearly a decade, I’ve seen firsthand the key contributions she’s made to our company, building our business and building trusted capabilities for our clients and strengthening our team with her generous guidance of up-and-coming talent,” Stephen Haney added.
Black most recently served as executive vice president of commercial assurance. He has 25 years of experience in the insurance industry and joined Chubb (later renamed ACE Surety) in 2013 as Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for the US business. He also previously served as Senior Vice President of Distribution Management; Vice President, National Chapter President for New York; and Assistant Vice President, Financial Taxes. Black is also a member of the board of directors of the Spencer Education Foundation.
Black earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from Binghamton University and the Leonard N. He received his MBA in Finance from the Stern School of Business.
Last week, Supp appointed Maggie Peloso as Supp Group’s senior vice president, global climate officer and executive director of the Supp Foundation. Effective next year, Peloso will be responsible for the company’s climate-related strategies.
