AXA XL The insurance company has announced that it has promoted Meredith Barron to lead its control insurance plan business, part of the company’s North American construction business. Barron is based in Exton, Pa., and will report to Michael McKinley, construction principal casualty chief. AXA XL.
“Meredith has dedicated his insurance career to serving contractors, joining AXA XL’s construction team as it gets off the ground,” said McKinley. “Our underwriter clients depend on Meredith’s dedication, hard work and underwriting expertise. He has made many contributions to the company over the past 15 years, and now in his new role as underwriting manager, he will continue to grow our regulated insurance plan business.”
Baron began his insurance career in 2008 as a technical specialist for AXA XL’s surplus lines operations. When the company launched its North American construction business in 2011, Baron joined its excess casualty group as an assistant underwriter. He was promoted to Underwriter in 2012 and joined the Rap-Up team as Senior Underwriter in 2015. Barron holds the designation of Construction Risk and Insurance Specialist.

Restricted insurance plans, also known as wrap-ups, can help contractors or plan owners get consistent coverage, reduce insurance costs and consolidate the claims management process for multiple contractors in one plan, AXA XL said.
Barron’s promotion is the latest move to bolster AXA XL’s North American construction business. Earlier this year, the company was launched Innovator’s Circle, a consortium of construction innovation leaders aimed at determining best practices to accelerate the innovation and adoption of construction technology. In December 2020, the company Rose Hall was appointed to the newly created role of head of construction innovation.
