Alliance confirmed the consumer chief will leave next year
13 December 2022
Chief GM Consumer Michael Winter will leave the business by the middle of next year after more than 20 years, Alliance Australia says.
In a brief statement to INSURANCE NEWS.com.au the insurer confirmed his departure and planned a “comprehensive” internal and external search to fill the role.
“Alliance confirms that [Mr Winter] … Allianz has decided to leave Australia in mid-2023 to pursue personal interests and spend time with his family and friends,” the statement said.
“We will undertake an extensive internal and external recruitment process to find a suitable replacement.
“In the meantime, we want to say thank you [him] For an outstanding 20-plus years of contribution to our business. We will miss his genuine passion for people – customers and employees – and warm approach to leadership, which spanned many roles during his time at Alliance.
Mr Winter was appointed to his current role in January last year under a new operating model introduced by Alliance at the time to focus on its consumer, commercial and workers’ compensation divisions.
He joined Alliance in 2001 and held several leadership roles across the business, including GM Financial Institutions for six years and Head GM Retail Distribution for six years.
“In January 2021 [Mr Winter] “The newly created leadership in the new consumer segment stepped into the role of GM Consumer, integrating Alliance’s customer intelligence, marketing and digital capabilities with distribution channels with great success,” Alliance said.
“During this period he was instrumental in the acquisition and integration of Westpac General Insurance into Alliance.”
